Tuesday
It rained hard last night, everyone was in the dining room, it felt crowded. This morning we go for a long walk on the western beach. The waves are the highest we have seen to date. There are more birds than people on the beach, so we walk, and walk. Taking pictures here and there. Very nice.
A nice lunch of chicken medallions, feta-pineapple and carbonara pasta. For desert: oatmeal and strawberry in layers. Heaven.
We are sitting on a lovely deck in dark brown wicker chairs (of course, Ginette's rocks) watching the waves crash on the beach while seabirds go about their business. We see flocks of pelicans in V formation, some diving for fish, herons circling in air currents, seagulls sooping down just over the waves, sandpiper moms watch over their brood as they attempt to follow waves out to sea one moment, and are chased back in to the beach the next.
The barman is mercifull today as he is playing easy listening tunes. Sometimes the music is so loud and ferocious, I think they use it to mix the drinks. Definately shaken not stirred.
I'm reading the local La Prensa (laprensa.hn) there is a story about our group arriving last Thrusday with a postage stamp picture of a family in our group of 162 passengers. The inside story is illustrated with a slightly larger picture and mentions we were the first to arrive for the new season.
The "militia" are gone with the Huey hellicopters as the interrim president and his family return to Tegucigalpa from his break at his bungalow here at Palma Real Resort. It is rumored he will be replaced as the new president is sworn into office on January 27.
