Firefox with Bing?

Death throes?  firefox with bing.com
I hope it gives Firefox an added boost. How does the 123 M$ revenue  Mozilla Firefox  compete with 36 G$ Google Chrome?
Microsoft may own the hearts and minds of a generation, but the next generation, not so much. Most may ask "What's an OS?". The browser is the new OS, for now.

10 reasons why Microsoft Office 365 rocks

It looks like Microsoft is preparing for cloud computing big time. Funny, up until now cloud computing was  limited to secure corporate Intranets, platforms and VPNs, now it is available over the whole Internet, if we can just get the security right.

Federated sign-in looks promising, but a lot of corporate profits are at stake and so I expect we will continue to suffer from a long bout of login-itis. Oh well, I have a single (e.g.: very rare) username, the password is 8 characters and numbers. I use a seed password to make all account passwords different. I'm all set to hold my breath for five years, by then the dust will have settled and I should have a unique sign-on. Steve

"Microsoft has released a beta of its new and improved online productivity suite, Office 365. It comes in two editions, small business and enterprise, and makes it easy and cost effective to go “into the cloud” without giving up the familiar Microsoft server and client applications. Expected to be released in final form in 2011, Office 365 will include email, collaboration, presence/communications (IM and audio/video calls and conferencing), and both Office Web Apps and (in the enterprise edition) Office 2010 Professional Plus. Here are a few reasons that industry commentators such as Paul Thurrott are saying Microsoft got it right this time." 10 reasons why Microsoft Office 365 rocks | 10 Things | TechRepublic.com:

Microsoft Support

This site is just full of tips, great if you are having trouble with your PC. I find it a bit dense, but the solutions are worth the hunt.
Thanks Ron

Toss your TV REMOTE just gesture.

“It’s a technology that we call Natal. It’s a little camera and microphone that sits on top of your TV set. And if you want to control the TV, you don’t go get some remote control or big fat gaming thing. If you want to look through TV channels, you just gesture, and the computer recognizes your voice, it recognizes your gestures. You want to see the next sports program, you go like this, it will cycle you through. You want to play a game and you need to jump, you jump. I’m not going to jump too hard; a little bit too high altitude here in Bogota for that, at least for me. But it recognizes you, it knows your voice, who you are, your gestures, what you’re doing.
“And if you think about that in a lot of settings, why am I carrying this thing? I’ve already forgotten three times where I set it down. I should just be able to go like this, and the camera should recognize that gesture and control the slides for me, and let these kinds of things freely happen.”

Facebook and Microsoft Fuse Labs take off the gloves!

It has happened, Microsoft launched it's first volley into the Cloud computing arena with Fuse Labs Docs.com Blog. Actually I'm waiting for my invitation, but merging all Facebook members with Microsoft Docs, and choosing a virtually illegal name sure to cause tons of confusion (are you using Microsoft Docs or Google Docs?)

The 2010s are going to be quite the decade!

I've grown rather pessimistic about microsoft lately

Everything seems complicated or doesn't work as expected. Maybe I'm just tired tonight. Thanks Jacques.

Free Windows developer applications for students

Download Free Windows servers and tools for students; what a deal.
Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard This might be the weirdest and most surprising giveaway ever. Microsoft's DreamSpark program is offering this new Windows Server release to eligible high school and college students. Why? To learn IT skills, I reckon. Obviously not everyone needs or wants this OS, which is worth $1,029, but I had to mention it. Anyone who does want it will need a Windows Live ID, a valid student e-mail address, and a way to burn the downloaded ISO file to a CD or DVD.

Microsoft DreamSparknload products at no cost.
Visual Studio 2008 Professional
SQL Server 2008
XNA Game Studio 3.1
CCR and DSS Toolkit 2008 R2
