La STL achète un premier bus électrique
Cool, electric bus in Laval... It's a start. Thanks Jacques.

Growing Algae for Biodiesel in Alicante, Spain
This technology may be the only way to produce sufficient quantities of fuel for our vehicles. At this time the extraction is expensive ($1.80 per litre see wikipedia) placing the resulting fuel as uneconomical. But the plant in Alicante (video Française) claims to produce at $20 per barrel because they make a great deal of money on the other by-products "pétrole bleu" .Thanks for a great link Garry. Steve.
As demonstrated here, microalgae appear to be the only source of renewable biodiesel that is capable of meeting the global demand for transport fuels. Like plants, microalgae use sunlight to produce oils but they do so more efficiently than crop plants. Oil productivity of many microalgae greatly exceeds the oil productivity of the best producing oil crops. Biodiesel from microalgae. [Biotechnol Adv. 2007 May-Jun] - PubMed result
Algae cultivation for CO2 sequestration - Oilgae - Oil from Algae
Algae oils have a variety of commercial and industrial uses, and are extracted through a wide variety of methods. Estimates of the cost to extract oil from microalgae vary, but are likely to be around $1.80 (US$)/kg (compared to $0.50 (US$)/kg for palm oil).[8]

Humancar hybrid that runs on arm power
I just don't see myself going to work in this. As for the 100 kmph performance, show me over a full commute. Thanks Jacques.

New design for parking garage
These photos are authentic, though mislabeled. What you actually see above is the interior of a 20-storey car tower in Volkswagen's Autostadt or "car city" in Wolfburg, Germany — basically a car dealership and theme park rolled into one. 'More: Munich Parking Garage (Photos) - Urban Legends

Technology on the march - Rent your first Exoskeleton
Finally, a "robot suit" makes it to the market! Well, rental anyway. In Japan, you can rent a suit that helps your aging muscles along. Comfortable? I think not. It would feel like being strapped in mountain climbing gear all day. Useful? Absolutely! It would be way better than a walker.

Vehicle of the future - eventually
In order to succeed new vehicles must improve in these key areas at the same time. The evolution of each technology is described from current to future "dream" technology. Currently, less than 1% of the energy available in a vehicle is used to move the passenger, 99% is used to move the vehicle and heat the air. Reference
- Energy Storage -
Liquid fuel to lithium to Hydrogen
Comparing the energy density of lithium ion batteries (2.4) to hydrogen (143) shows that hydrogen may be the endgame for storage in a pre-nuclear personal energy storage system. However, the overall picture may move away from Hydrogen due to inefficiencies in production and transportation.
EEStor Ultracapacitors may soon be of interest due to their very high dielectric materials. - Energy Source -
Gasoline to Ethanol to hydrogen to 110 to 220 v from the grid at off peak hours (all night) - Energy conversion -
Carburetor to Fuel Injector to fuel cell to direct hydrogen combustion in a generator - Engine -

Steel to Aluminium to Carbon fiber (reduce to 30% of current economy vehicles) - Size - Tailored to needs will maximize efficiency
