The teacher's machine in every classroom has Skype3.8 (free at skype.com),  speakers, microphone and a free account such as PV321-prof, PV323-prof, etc. always on. Skype must be configured to auto-answer (Menu: tools/options/calls/advanced/automatically answer incoming calls)

Reception has Skype running and can call any classroom by double clicking it's contact name. A call to a group of classrooms  is instantly set-up by right clicking the group name and choosing "Start Conference Call". A group can be setup by dragging contacts to a group. 

To use her telephone instead of a separate microphone, the receptionist could add her phone number to the group. Calling the group rings her phone as well as the group. Skype unlimited account required at $2,95 per month.

This will be a step towards the larger project described at NikkoSing: Projet Pilote de Classe Virtuelle

Getting the most out of Skype Conference calls

I'm very happy with the latest setup. We bought a pair of Microsoft Lifecam VT 7000 units and the performance is stunning. I can stand 30 feet away from the computer in the kitchen while listening to my mom on large speakers in the living room. The sound is clear, no problems,  no cutting. The video is great too, although the 2 mega pixels are oversold a bit since anything past 1024 is hardly noticeable on my 19 inch screen.

1. Wikis - While the best known one is wikipedia, wikis are popping-up on intranets and on the net daily. To get your head spinning, check out wikia.com.
2. Blogs - Sites published in blog format are growing exponentially as they provide current, relevant information on focused topics. One can start a blog for free using Tumblr, Blogspot, WordPress, Xanga or a whole plethora of other free offerings. 3. Micro-blogging - Pownce, Twitter, Jaiku are all great examples of mini or micro-blogging.
