Foolishly... just because we want to ride the train, we dismiss our driver and decide to ride the train back to Bangkok.
It is 32 degrees but the humidity is 86%. I'm sweating standing in the shade. We share tips with a passing tourist from France and wait for the train in open shade, it is 30 minutes late, the windows will be open for three hours. The seats are plastic-leather. The fine sand is visible on the seats. The atmosphere is FUN. Except for the long smelly wait by a pig farm, sidetracked waiting for an oncoming train.
Once in Thonburi a distinctly working class neighbourhood, we walk almost 2 km to the Chao Phraya River to catch a ride back to the hotel. There is heavy monsoon rain during our ride. Impressive.
By 8 PM sweaty and exhausted we drag ourselves into the lobby of the Pinnacle Lumpinee Hotel & Spa, Bangkok.
