Limits to growth.

Based on this inspired TED conference from 1994.

For 40 years, Moore's law of exponential growth in technology has continued unabated, technological progress is doubling every year or so. Even exponential growth will level out some day. It may take a while and we will not recognize our society when it's over.

I imagine that in the future, for better or for worse, our communication technology will link us so tightly that we can afford to become unimaginably specialized both in knowledge, abilities and output. Unimaginable is the key word here. Like it or not, I won't be there and it will be strange.
