Follow the money.
TIZEN OS is an exact clone of ANDROID OS that will distribute the money you spend in your phone to partners other than Google; such as Samsung and your phone company.
For example: If you like "for pay" music, the royalties will go off in all directions. Sharing your 99 cent purchases is the only reason for TIZEN.
Because it is "more open than Android" means some vendors may tweak TIZEN OS in unexpected ways that increase their royalties. Comparing TIZEN phone plans could be very complicated since your phone company could theoretically monetize your plan with in-app purchases.
I believe TIZEN will not take over ANDROID, but appear mostly in devices that are cheap to buy but expensive to own.
TIZEN will look and feel like ANDROID but your wallet will know the difference; and not in a good way.

That's it.

Because whilst Android may feature on its best-selling wares, the spoils from that particular eco-system - be it from in-game purchases, streaming services such as Play Music, or the lucrative mound of data accrued from such services (that can be subsequently used to leverage other Google products) - don't go into Samsung's bank account.Source: Tizen: The operating system that could thwart Android? | News | TechRadar
The OS runs on "prototype" hardware that very closely resembles a Galaxy S4. Tizen is a Linux-based OS primarily developed by Samsung, and, the theory goes, Samsung's grand plot is to eventually turn Tizen into a drop-in Android replacement, own the market with an OS of its own making, and never have to deal with Google again. So far, Tizen seems a pretty accurate Android clone, but it's shocking how far along it is. On the surface, it seemed just as capable as a TouchWiz Android device. Samsung has done such a good job of replicating the Android interface that there is very little to write about—everything looks and works similarly to the way it does on Android, just without any kind of ecosystem.

in an environment that is familiar to anyone who has worked on
web development.
