I always feel bad failing a student on a quiz. I will use the NOT YET rating instead.
Rating with a NOT YET assumes there is no failure, simply that another try is expected. Creativity is energized and every effort is greeted with a smile.
Mastery takes a lifetime.
Mastery is not in the "now", but must be part of a “growth mindset”.
