Steve in Australia - summary for first impressions

Finally I am with my brother; after 36 hours in transit door to door. I slept very soundly till 2AM (noon Montreal time). It's HOT and HUMID; excellent because Alex has a nice pond, perfect for cooling off. The nights are quite comfortable and so I'm sleeping very well under the mosquito net.  The insects manageable. (except for the red ant that bit my toe, and the leech that attached itself to my foot). The first aid guide is very clear in managing such cases, I will spare you the details.

The Kookaburra woke me up since it "laughs" at the first light and at full sun up. The Catbird sound is still as impressive and improbable as ever.

Went for an excellent bike ride to Pomona to meet the locals and buy some supplies.  Breakfast is Muselix  banana yogurt and soymilk. We are busy as beavers adressing all kinds of projects around the place. From fixing the deck to replacing roofing pannels. The new lighting in the shower room (3m x 3m) looks fabulous.

Saturday:
  • Lunch at the Yandina Cricket Club.
  • Lovely dinner of Carbonara a la Alex. Just break an egg into hot spahetti in olive oil and garlic
  • Another favourite: rice with roasted almonds.

Sunday:
  • We had a lovely fire Saturday evening, and cleaned up the place for some guests we are expecting. We will go for a little drive this afternoon.

Monday:
  • I'm biking into town to place some advertising at the IGA in Pomona and Cooroy.
The slide show runs all the photos in the order they were taken.
