KLM maker for Google earth using a spreadsheet

Thought you’d get a kick out of this small kml text file. Just play the tour in Google Earth.

HOW TO MAKE A KLM FILE

  1. Type the name and the address in columns A and B. This sample uses the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School board high schools

  2. Copy the text from column J and paste to a notepad.
  3. Save as swl.klm
  4. Send it to your friends for use in google earth

The addresses must be entered carefully because Google Earth is very picky about the spelling. Generally, use no accents.

When dashes and accents meet it displays the Chinese character instead of the pair of French characters, and so acceptable errors must be introduced to make the addresses work.
(Curé-Lbelle and Prévost are examples of this problem). This problem is completely undocumented and the source of many unfound addresses in Québec using Google Earth.
