Travel to Cuba advice

One piece of advice I will offer anyone considering visiting Cuba is to take a good supply of cosmetics, soap, shampoo, washing powder, medications, T-shirts, flip-flop sandals and shorts. Stocks of most things are in short supply, only available in 'dollar shops', and, thanks to the tourist trade, so expensive, that locals can barely afford them. On your last day, give away anything you haven't used during your stay. You will be remembered for years. This also applies to the divers. Take as many 'O' rings as you can manage, the scuba centers are always in need of more, and you'll get special treatment for your apparent generosity. Some people even ask their local pharmacies to give them a box of 'out-of-date' patent medicines and anti-biotics, which they give away.
